Jake Anders is Associate Professor and Deputy Director at the UCL Centre for Education Policy & Equalising Opportunities (CEPEO). He also leads the COVID Social Mobility & Opportunities study (COSMO): a major longitudinal study funded by UKRI Economic and Social Research Council tracking the unequal impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on a cohort of young people particularly acutely affected by the disruption that it caused. Jake's research focuses on better understanding the causes and consequences of educational inequalities, evaluating policies and programmes aiming to reduce these inequalities, and how best to do this evaluation. He has published widely across economics, education, psychology and sociology journals on these issues. As well as the ESRC, his work has been funded by charitable foundations, including the Nuffield Foundation, and he has led numerous randomised evaluations, including Education Endowment Foundation-funded work on improving teachers' use of formative assessment.
